Exactly that's what happened when the two most iconic brands,Starbucks and Sabyasachi Calcutta wanted to take their customer base to a new outlook of the products they sell. Benefiting both the community and sales.

Who is Sabyasachi?

The fashion maverick and the pioneer of Indian bridal wear. Sabyasachi Mukherjee is an Indian designer, couturier and entrepreneur hailing from Kolkata. The label Sabyasachi, Calcutta is the brainchild of the designer himself. 

What is Starbucks? 

Founded by Baldwin and Bowker, Starbucks is an American coffeehouse chain that has spread over the whole world. 

The big news 

After making the headlines for designing all the celeb wedding coutures, Sabyasachi yet again makes on the headlines but for a different reason now. 

Taking things a notch higher, the designer decided to give a caffeinated touch to the essence of his designs. Sabyasachi x Starbucks is the latest talk of the town. 

Starbucks is all set to pull an exclusive range of designer drinkware that includes ceramic mugs and stainless steel tumbler portraying the unique Indian art and culture. Its aim is to feature the designer’s signature Bengali elucidation. 

The series is a limited edition collection and has digital prints of the designer’s  hand-rendered designs crafted by the artisans. 

Why was the Collaboration Made?

Magic happens when two like-minded brands come together putting their philosophy and values forward. 

Starbucks is the designer’s personal favourite and during his initial days at designing in New York, he used to start his day with Starbucks. 

Being swept by nostalgia, Sabyasachi came forward with the idea of creating something more than just couture. The duo's focus is to support and amplify education of rural and underprivileged girls. 

In some parts, India is still not liberal about educating girls and are unaware of its importance. This initiative is to support and fund their schooling.

The Story Decoded 

The ad opens up to a busy scene at the Starbucks where they have placed their latest collection of merchandise. 

Everytime a customer touches the collection, the barista thanks the customer with a girl's name in the end which confuses a lot of them.

On asking The barista why she thanked for looking into the collection. She said that the cross cultural merchandising initiative is taken to support education and to empower the rural and underprivileged girls. 

Then the designer shows up saying we all can come together to support, educate girls.
